Chaos Magick at Maybe Logic Academy

Prop Anon took Pete Carroll's class in Chaos Magick at Maybe Logic Academy in 2005, and he saved his class materials. Prop has been posting them at his Chapel Perilous website. Here is week one.   He also has posted week two.

Prop writes, "You will recall the 'Crowley 101' course that RAW taught at the MLA and that I posted last week here on this website. Whereas RAW’s ‘Crowley 101’ course was a dipping of the proverbial toe in the pond of the Occult, Mr. Carroll’s class was a cannon ball into the choppy mercurial waters of the Occult. I cannot think of a better way to study Magic(K) than by comparing and contrasting the two methods found in 'Crowley 101' and this class."

The Wikipedia bio for Carroll says, "In 2005, he appeared as a chaos magic instructor at Maybe Logic Academy at the request of Robert Anton Wilson."

What I wouldn’t give to have been in a MaybeLogic course. I didn’t know there were instructors besides RAW. Anyone besides Carroll? What was RAW’s take on Chaos Magick? It must have been positive if he thought highly enough about it to host a class…

That's great of Prop to post these classes. I took RAW's class on Aleister Crowley and Peter Carroll's class on Chaos Magic and agree that they complemented each other. The Aleister Crowley course was centered on Aleister Crowley: the man, his philosophy and qabalah along with Wilson's embellishments like e-prime, etc. Magick was always in the background, one might say hidden, i.e occult.

I also wish I would have taken part in the MLA, but at least parts of some courses are still available around.

I took a cool class at MLA from Ivan Stang of the Church of the SubGenius. I enjoyed the four classes I taught there.

RAW invited Carroll to teach at MLA. They knew each other since the late 1980s. =
