Iain Spence has his doubts, at least about the Invisibles to Matrix connection. He has a new piece up, "Invisible Influences in The Matrix: Debunking Grant Morrison‘s claim that The Matrix wouldn’t exist without his fiction." It's on Medium, but Iain has removed the firewall so that everyone can read it.
Iain also contends that Morrison has misunderstood Iain's own work:
"Grant Morrison has stated in the past that The Matrix was part of a late 1990s emergence of Hostile Strength celebration within pop culture. He said this in relation to The Sekhmet Hypothesis.¹ As the author of the book, I disagree. The Matrix was a movie, not a raw celebration involving atavistic behaviour within pop culture."
Iain's books are available as Kindles on Amazon at quite reasonable prices.

FYI, it seems to only be available to paid users of Medium. I'm logged in, but I do not have a paid account.

Joseph, I've emailed you the text. I'm not sure how to fix the link in my posting, but for everyone else having trouble, try following the link from the original posting on X.com/Twitter:

The link in your comment worked for me, Tom, to get past the pay wall.
From Iain Spence:
Thank you Tom for sharing the links here. It was quite a surprise to see the cover of the book looking so large. Sadly Ian Irizarry, the photographer of the cover, died some time after letting me use his photos (there are several in the book). He was only in his late 30s. I’m sure he’s still missed in the LA scenes he was involved with.
He was a fun-loving gentle man. He would be laughing now at seeing his photography appear again. Perhaps he still is.
Thanks Joseph for the update. I’m not sure what went wrong there. Here’s the free link directly pasted from Medium:

Free downloads of the book are available on Amazon at the weekend.
Thanks. Oddly not long after I received your email the original link started to work for me. I appreciate your response, nonetheless.
wait wait wait... the Iain Spence I know is the proof reader guy for Hilaritas. You're telling me there's this whole other Iain Spence who writes books and medium blogs? I'm struggling to put 2 and 2 together right now.
@Quackenbush, "Iain Spence" is a Robert Anton Wilson fan, who writes books under the pen name "Iain Spence." Hope this clears things up!
This reminds me of a Woody Allen story I read many years ago. In Allen's telling, the Russian revolution finally gains traction when the peasants realize that the "tsar" and the "czar" are actually the same person.
From Iain Spence - yes it's me again : )
I don‘t care if there is a straight correlation from „the invisibles“ to „the Matrix“.
But for me, „the invisibles“ is an equally important and genious work as „illuminatus“.
